Sarah's Rental Cottage ~ Bunkroom + Screen Porch

Hello Monday! After tackling the main floor of Sarah's rental cottage, Sarah Richardson is ready to wow her cottage guests who will be staying at the lower level.  That's right, Sarah and Tommy are set to transform a once dark and uninvited room + underutilized prime real estate into a sensational bunkroom with a private screen porch!

Can you believe almost all the built-ins were here when Sarah purchased the cottage? Once fully covered in natural pine (I know ...  country folks may prefer the pine), Sarah painted the entire space with a serene, charming, and gender neutral color palette: white for all walls, pale blue for the ceiling, and dove greyish blue for all the built-in and trims.

To make sure she can ask for top dollar rent, Sarah took adventure of the ceiling height and added an extra bed above the existing double bed to increase the sleeping capability in the bunkroom.

Who wouldn't want to sleep in these beds, especially when you have your own private view of the gorgeous Georgian Bay the moment you wake up!

And that's not all!  There is a lounge zone in the bunkroom as well with hooks for everyone to hangup their towels after spending a day in nature.  I bet the guests will never leave!

To create the look in your own cottage, here are a few essential items:

Are you ready to check out the super cool &bug-proof screen porch? I bet you do!

It is hard to imagine this was the same space.  The trees were overgrown (blocking the incredible view) and without much protection from the elements + the blood-sucking mosquitos, this lower deck probably was only used when one was forced to stay out to BBQ.

Well not anymore after Sarah and Tommy have done their magic and transformed it into this stylish screen porch! I would love to kick back and watch the sunset here with a glass of sangria!

Before I let you go re-imagine the potential of your cottage, here is a fun behind the scenes video on Sarah adding a charming bucket system in the bunkroom is this bucket system.  Enjoy!
