#ProjectChris ~ Kitchen Makeover + Panasonic Microwave Giveaway!

Hello Wednesday!  If you have been following along on Instagram, you would know that I have been busy sourcing on the final details at #ProjectChris. The builder's kitchen is getting a dramatic before and after makeover, and I can't wait to see it all coming together!  The big push over the past weekend was to get the kitchen details finalized.   The countertop has been ordered with template happening today, backsplash tiles are at hands, and we have also checked out some lighting options at The Home Depot (more to come on that next week) ... all the major items have now been crossed off the "to-do" list.

Here is the BEFORE Kitchen at #ProjectChris:

Not bad really considering that is the builder's choice and it has an efficient layout.  But you know me, a brown kitchen with brown granite countertop, marshmallow inspired range, and not so appealing facuet and hardware will definitely bother me for a very long time.  For that very reason, I have been dreaming about these timeless classic beauties in shades of soothing creams and greys + showstopper hardware/ faucet + sensational lighting.

So when Panasonic Cooking Canada approached me to plan my dream kitchen with their chef-envy built-in convection oven and induction cooktop, I was over the moon delighted and I'd said "Yes".

A classic, timeless kitchen doesn't mean it has to be all dressed in white.  For me, two-tone kitchen cabinets pairing with natural, organic materials and state-of-the-art, sleek, and energy efficient appliances is what makes a kitchen truly the heart of the home.  Here is My Panasonic Kitchen Style inspiration board, and it accomplished just that with the Panasonic IH Cooktop and Convection Oven being the stars of the show!

To achieve the signature two-tone kitchen look, I turned to The Home Depot for a classic shaker profile in rich, sumptuous grey for the lower cabinets.  My plan for the uppers is a mixture of solid and glass doors, and these eurostyle doors in snow white are just perfect for the task.  A beautiful, neutral stone counter top, along with the hexagon mosaics as backsplash, helps elevate the elegance factor in this gourmet kitchen.

The kitchen makeover also includes a complete transformation of the island.  Inspired by this country kitchen by Sarah Richardson with her use of reclaimed barn boards, my plan is to transform this ordinary island into a delicious master piece by cladding the island with this laminate flooring material with a weathered look.  It is easy to install and since the material is not very thick, the transformed island will look sleek, sophisticated, and has a touch of refined rustic flair.

To further emphasize the juxtaposition between classic designs and modern elements, I am also pairing this traditional bridge faucet with side spray with a sexy, edgy pendant.  The hit of black doesn't not only tie in with the black accents on the Panasonic IH Cooktop and Convection Oven, it also helps ground this overall light and airy kitchen.

The final design element in this kitchen makeover is to accessorize the cabinets with these striking octagonal knobs in brushed brass.  As for the final practical component, Chris has requested a TV in the kitchen and this Panasonic LED TV truly combines functions and style.

And here is a chance for you to update your kitchen with state-of-the-art appliance from Panasonic Cooking Canada.  This Mid-size Genius Inverter Microwave & Trim Kit (value at approximately $470) could be yours (Canadian resident only, excluding Quebec).  Here are the contest rules and details:
