Appreciation Moment: MadeByGirl with Jen Ramos

Happy Wednesday! Today's post is all about the amazingly talented and beautiful Jen Ramos of MadeByGirl.  New Yorkers ... I'm telling you, there must be something in the air that makes them all so in tune with fashion and home decor!  Yours truly is going to the Big Apple in exactly a week time: I can't wait to breath in that air and be "transformed".

Our interiors reflect who we are, what we like, and how we live.  This striking image of Jen in her home office sets the tone of what you will see in this house tour.  Here is how Jen tells her story: light and airy, crisp and high contrast, with pops of colors + a touch of Hollywood glam.

Let's start from the front door shall we? Passed the glossy pale pink front door, we are at the entrance of this multi-levels family home and you are probably looking at one of the greatest features of this house: its soaring two stories ceiling height!  A mod black & white palette, pairing with espresso floor, and a whimsical mirror, this foyer strikes a bold statement and has certainly made a great first impression on me.

A view from the top of the stairs: don't you just love the black door and the zebra hide? Charming and unexpected.  I love how the Moooi Random pendant accentuates the ceiling height and at the same time, draws your eyes back down on earth.  Wait ... it is actually a $50 DIY project handcrafted by Jen! Very clever this lady I am telling you.

Beautiful artwork full of soft pink and purple at the landing of the first floor.  The ebony stain finish on the frame gives this piece its presence and helps anchor an otherwise all white landing.

A sensational, bright and breezy contemporary lounge area all dressed in white, cream, soft grey, with a touch of brass/mustard for warmth.  To name one single element I love the most?  It has got to be the arches architectural detail.  With a "moon" as backdrop, I feel like I'm sitting in an Italian villa.

As the designers always say, leave some bucks for artwork and accessories.  They are the pieces that bring the rooms to life and here is how Jen mastered this task: large canvas with Jen's signature Lipstick Dots from Cocoa & Heart, black + white bookshelves with brass ram bookends and vibrant turquoise Foo dogs.  I of course am crazy about the corals and that urn with a mod chevron motif!

OH the Kitchen ... my dream kitchen to be exact: all in white, cream, carrara subway tile backsplash, with stainless still appliance, gas stove, a huge island, and a pair of incredibly spectacular pendants.  Love it ... absolutely love it!  See where this neutral winning formula is going my friends?  This kitchen can go with whatever accent colors you throw at it season after season.  It's perfect for a serial decorator ... just saying!

Ladies or Gents, we all kill for a well organized walk-in closet with a full length mirror.  Check out Jens at her fashion house.  The Pax system from IKEA has certainly received A+ here, and with animal print on the runner and crystal chandelier up above, who wouldn't want to pop this closet right into their home?  Smart inspirational storage solution that maximizes every inches of the space.

That wraps up our tour of Jen's fabulous home in NYC, and you have seen a couple of artwork by Jen herself.  If you want to introduce a hint of Jen's style into your home, why not bring home a piece or two of Jen's prints or original arts from Cocoa and Hearts

Here are a couple of original artworks by Jen I adore.  Love the vivid colors, and the vibrancy + energy from her work.  And who is kidding who, you all know I'm crazy about turquoise, gold, and all things polka dots.  These pieces surely just hit a home run!  And they sure did ... with someone else, as they are both perfectly sold!

Do not despair if the piece you like is sold.  Jen is creating new art pieces and in the meantime, we can always get these printed notecards to glam up our home office!

Thanks so much for all these amazing images of your home and your artwork Jen.  It is truly inspirational and once again proven that a white box can be colorful!

  6. I have a few of her pieces myself, her typography prints. I loved her home, but that was her home in Vegas, her apartment in NYC has yet to be seen :) She had it professional shot by Janis Nicolay, I suspect it will be seen in a magazine first!

She has so much style and is such a trend setter!
