Success @ Garage Sale & Winner to Giveaway

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Did you watch Sarah 101 last night? The two back-to-back episodes feature some serious transformation and I can't wait to share with you my recap of this week's Sarah 101 on Friday.

For today, I would like to take a moment to thank all of you who supported DesignMaze's first ever garage sale held at Wychwood Gallery during the Victoria Day long weekend.  Big thank you to Christine of Bijou and Boheme and Vanessa of Decor Happy for the shout out on their blogs, and Jen of Rambling Renovators on twitter! You ladies are awesome!

After digging through my collection at my Dad's "bargain basement", compiling the "ready to sale" mountain, and spending hours to tag all the items, the annual styleNorth garage sale was ready for business at 9am sharp.  Amy of EyeSeePretty and I shared this L-shape area, which allowed for maximum square footage and not one, not two, but THREE table top surfaces to layout our treasures.  Peter (Amy's significant other) managed to take a shot of yours truly and my partner in crime seconds before our area was packed with bargain hunters.

If you couldn't make it to the sale, here is a recap of the goodies we offered.  Divided into zones, each grouping has its unique quality.  First up we have the "cottage corner" outfitted with rattan coffee table, snowshoes, and of course the freshly cut lilac.  Around the corner is all about mirrors and vases, and my adorable Louis chair in the most cheerful hue of yellow.  God I love that tall solid wood mirror Amy brought ... too bad I made myself the "no purchases from other vendors" rule.

The lamp department did exceptionally well and only one little guy stayed behind by wrap-up time.  I put that in the "free to pick" box and within seconds, the lamp was gone!

I have learned lots on how to deal with bargain hunters, how to set up the sale fast (yes, the site only gave us 2 hours in the morning to set up), and yes, I would definitely do it again with my partner in crime and her super helpful hubby!

I also learned that I am a rather "shy" sale person.  So Chris claimed the General Manager of DesignMaze title and handled most of the sales and the proceeds for me.  There he is on the lower right corner, hard at work and focused like a hawk.

And of course such a successful sale wouldn't have been possible without our fearless and super organized leader. Chris J., you are the best!  Chris and Amy also did a recap on their blogs, you should check out their "after thoughts".

Amy and I did very well on most items and I found myself coming home with these gorgeous custom pillows.  Ranging from $45 to $55 a piece, I so thought they would fly off the shelves.  Maybe they are not for the bargain hunting crowds.  The thought of selling them via Etsy or on my blog came to mind ... time to consult the experts!

Today is also the day I announce the winner of this oh-so-gorgeous limited edition tea towel by Alanna Cavanagh.  The lucky winner of this sold-out master piece is comment #7, Barbara of hodge:podge!  All the best Barb with this towel and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do with mine!

Enjoy the sunny Wednesday folks! I will be back on Friday for a whole lot of Sarah 101 with Sarah Richardson and Tommy Smythe.  Stay tuned!
