Happy Wednesday! I would like to dedicate Part II of my IDS 2012 Pre-Show to the internationally acclaimed designer,
Karim Rashid, and the incredibly talented Canadian designers, George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, from
Yabu Pushelberg.
These creative talents will take parts at
IDS 2012, and I attended the
BINARY Fundraising Gala at
Design Exchange last year to celebrate the inspirational work of
Karim Rashid,
Hani Rashid, and Lisa Couture, thanks to the invite from Yabu Pushelberg!
Here are the portraits of Karim, Hani, and Lisa on display at Design Exchange. I love how the artist created these portraits with an abstract background in metallic paints.
It was such a fun event filled with talented performers, and the venue was accented in shades of blue and pink.
I love these bubbles on the ceiling! So dramatic and very effective. Beautiful and elegant orchids as our centre piece and thanks again Yabu Pushelberg for having me as your guest.
After the delicious meal, we headed to the party floor where amazing bubble pendants were suspended from the ceiling and an ice sculpted wall full of
Karim's signature icons.
Karim Rashid is not afraid of using bold, electric colors in his projects, including this contemporary residential home. Love the blue and yellow palette with a touch of pink.
The color palette is applied throughout the interior of the house, with yellow accent wall and pink dining chairs. Of course I love how Karim takes it up a notch by injecting "
Tangerine Tango" into the space. Talking about being a trend setter!
I am now obsessed with this orange and white quilt with a cross motif! If you know where I can get this, please drop me a comment!
In case you haven't noticed yet, I'm all crazy about the play of warm and cool metals these days and here are my absolute favourite wall coverings by Karim Rashid. So decadent and what a stunningly beautiful way to elevate our home.
Amazing shot isn't it? This is one of Karim's commercial projects and I love the neon lights and the night club vibe. Well, if you want to experience the many talents of Karim Rashid, you will need to come to the
opening night party at IDS 12! This creative genius will be the DJ at the opening party.
A big thank you to
Yabu Pushelberg for the amazing experience at the BINARY Gala. In support of
ONEXONE at the
Cherish Auction & Exhibit for IDS 2012, this dynamic design studio has re-imagined the iconic Julian chair for a great cause, with all proceed going to projects such as Pediatric Wing at the Mirebalais Hospital in Haiti and The First Nations School Breakfast Program in Canada. Now here is another reason why you all have to get
your ticket for the opening night party.
I would also like to take this opportunity to share a few of interiors designed by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. In fact, these are images from their own residences in Toronto and New York City. There is nothing more exciting than to see how talented designers actually live in their own homes.
Light, airy, serene with hits of black to ground the space. I love how the organic elements such as the side table and the back of a lounge chair (second image below) juxtapose against the subdued and smooth palette and furnishings in the space.
I love a good gallery wall and this one is my absolute favourite: nothing enlivens a room more than original artwork and check out this whimsical collection! Black and white maybe a little mod in this vignette against the creamy chair, but these sketches with an antique effect just made my heart skipped a beat.
An exquisite kitchen with rich wood tone, ample of counter space, and love how the natural stones clad all the way to the ceiling. So elegant and luxurious. Again, I am crazy about this dresser and the gallery wall! To me, this vignette is organic, intimate, and inspirational.
What a fantastic first impression! Love the contrast between the black door and the creamy walls, and that oh-so-stylish Art Deco inspired handrail on the staircase. If you are stuck with concrete columns in your condo, why not embrace the challenge and work them into your design? I am blown away by how dramatic this concrete column looks as part of this walk-in closet.
Now here is an open concept living room to die for! I am absolutely in love with this space: the waterfall style counter/island, the smoky mirror details in the kitchen, the gorgeous industrial inspired pendants, the full length sheers as window treatments, and of course the perfect mix of contemporary and classic furnishings for class, personality, and elegance.
Here is Part II of my IDS 2012 count down. You have now seen some of the amazing work by
Karim Rashid and
Yabu Pushelberg, and you definitely have to come to the
Opening Night Party and be inspired!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is by Pia Wallen. I'm pretty sure there is a store in Canada that carries it! Save up for it! The wool is over $1000 USD, but there is a a flannel version with smaller crosses for $250 USD! -jen
