Trend Alert: inVU Drapery

Enjoyed the Fall trends inspirational boards from inVU and entered the giveaway?  I surely did have a lot of fun attending the event on October 1st and seeing the trend in person!  The design team had done a  great job putting together the four vignettes to showcase how each of the four trends can be incorporated into our homes.  The presentation was very informative and I also picked up a few tricks for my own home.  Here is a quick recap of the Fall Trends:

Bold and commands attention, Equinox is the first trend to greet you at the door.  As Lisa mentioned at her presentation, this trend may not be what you just take home right the way without some "encouragement".  For me, it's about how you use bold patterns and colors to add that wow factor in the space.  Here in this vignette, the suzani fabric is applied on a pair of wing back chairs.  It is a commitment but if you love the color and the pattern, this chair will truly be the conversation piece in the room.

If you want to use red but in a more subdued palette, you may want to pair muted red with soft grey and cream as shown here.  I love the zebra fabric (yes I'm using it for my living room this Winter) and the ottoman from the Coby's line.

For Woodland, the team put together this sumptuous and intimate vignette, which in my opinion is perfect for our Canadian Winter.  I love the hint of soft green and muted gold: they add so much warmth to the grey color scheme!  Couldn't you see yourself sitting on that tailored chair in soft wool, enjoying a glass of wine, reading your favourite book with the faux far throw within reach?  All we are missing here is a cozy wood burning fireplace, but the team has offered us faux birch-log candles as alternatives.

If you love this scheme and happen to be in the market for a dining set, inVU also has this gorgeous option for you.  The natural linen-cotton blend is the perfect fabric to pair with the Louis XVI style chairs and bench in a weathered wood finish for a casual elegant look.  The antique silver/ mercury accessories, white porcelain vases, and pale green hydrangeas help infused luxe factors to this nature inspired dining set.

The essence of the Natural Eclectic scheme is all about mixing natural wood with unexpected pieces for a collective look.  Here aqua blue is added to a subdued palette for a visual punch.

Love this crossed leg stool upholstered in pale grey cowhide, the belt detail as accent on a simple pillow, and the organic bowl with muted gold globes create tension and contrast against the polished chrome chair with smooth white leather seat.

A luxe chair with faux far throw and diamond brooches on pillow (believe it or not, the diamond brooches are actually magnets!) and this high style side table with a chain base in champagne metal: the perfect hybrid between silver and gold.

Now my personal favourite: Carbon!  I love this palette when I saw it on paper and it totally swept me off my feet when I saw this vignette in person.  The deep ink focal wall offers a sophisticated yet vibrant backdrop for a collection of artwork in muted gold frames and a sunburst mirror.  The white linen drapes with a chain motif in pale mustard juxtapose amazingly with the dark rich wall.  Check out this glam velvet chair with muted brass nailhead details.  Now here is a neat trick I will try on my next chair: nailhead along the arms on the chair. Totally unconventional and such a refreshing approach to liven up a traditional chair.

A couple other tricks I learned from this event: (1) put ribbon trims on top of a simple flat front pillow for an easy, inexpensive makeover, (2) breath a new life into your pewter curtain rod by adding lucite finials with gold accent.  Both makeovers require minimal investment but wow, look at the dramatic transformation!

Of course I couldn't resist checking out all the gorgeous fabrics in the store.  I love the simple but elegant patterns on these upholstery grade fabrics.

If you are game a bold statement, check out these two options!  I love the pattern, texture, and the fun factor in both fabrics as the outside back and sides of an occasional chair!

Thanks Lisa for an inspirational event and Pam for great company and taking pictures for us.  Sorry for the really bad picture of me.  To make myself feel better, I decided to take another one with the horns.  In case you couldn't make it to the event on October 1st, come check out these vignettes at inVU Mississauga location.  You will be inspired!

Here is another exciting part you all have been waiting for.  Thanks so much for all your comments on which of the four trend boards you like the most and the lucky winner has been picked randomly by the computer. The lucky winner is comment# 18: Dylan!  Please contact me at DesignMaze with your mailing address and contact info.  The $100 gift certificate will be on its way to your home!
